Recently formed, in response to a need, the Lone Star Equestrian Association is an Unincorporated Nonprofit Association. The Lake Houston Hurricanes Special Olympics Equestrian Team lost (due to relocation out of the state) its coaches and the owners of the horses with which they practiced and competed in Special Olympics competitions. Fortunately for the team, the owners generously offered to leave them three special horses. Unfortunately, Special Olympics teams are not allowed to own horses directly. The association now owns and cares for the horses and provides them to the team, free of charge.
